168-170, Thu-Sat

Oh Judah, you are so cute and delicious, I just want to kiss your chubby cheeks all day long (and that is exactly what I do).

Lately we've been trying to keep busy every day. Thursday was mom's group. Friday we visited your Uncle Will and Aunt Connie. Saturday Mur Mur came to babysit you. It helps the days go by faster and better when mommy has some adult company to break up our alone time.

I'm so excited for your dad's upcoming 2 week vacation. We'll get to spend time all together every day. What a treat!

Here's a pic of us playing the piano together. You know exactly what to do--every time I sit you in front of the keys, you stick out your little index finger because you know it's time to press the keys. You're a music prodigy!

That is so adorable. You already have a pianist on your hands - and a genius! Hmmmm. Maybe I want to get a keyboard instead of doing a class. What do you think would be best? Suggestions?

I think you don't need a class at Micah's age. It's fun for him just to pound on the keyboard with you or Marcus. No formal training is going to sink in anyway. A class is fun thought to get ideas of what you can do with your baby and music. But I think Micah might have fun just pressing the keys with mom and dad.

Thanks for your advice! Do you have any keyboard recommendations?

Well, I think any little keyboard will do (as long as it has at least an octave and a half). There are so many different kinds and brands, but I saw one on Amazon for just $10 which might be a nice low-investment way to start Micah off. Or, if you're pretty sure you want Micah to develop real keyboard skills you might want to invest in a real upright piano (or electronic piano--or a keyboard with full 88 keys that are weighted). I'd look on craigslist for a good deal on keyboards or pianos. Often you can find people giving away their upright pianos for free! If you guys are moving locations in a year or two, hold off on the big equipment, of course.
